Clothes hanging on hooks against a white wall in a minimalist room.

Being Clothes is a collection of handmade garments by Ōtautahi-based artist and designer Brooke Georgia. Each piece is created in her studio from natural and repurposed fibres — recycled, salvaged, and reimagined through dyeing, layering, and hand-finishing.

Every garment is one-of-a-kind. Shapes are one-size, and fabrics are chosen for their history as much as their potential. Because they are made from reclaimed materials, pieces cannot be replicated or made to order — each holds its own presence, texture, and story.

Being Clothes is less about seasonal cycles and more about process: salvaging, repairing, remaking. These are garments as artefacts — clothing that carries memory and renewal in every stitch..
